NINJA IN THE NIGHT (Update) [18 Nov 2005|01:05pm]

Ky and I are not going to be able to show for the Ninjaing tonight; her parents moved to San Antonio, and the cats that live in their back yard weren't able to be caught before they had to head down. So, Ky and I are making a trip to Granbury to attempt to catch the little feckers--and if successful: we're driving them down to San Antonio.

So, instead of meeting in my room, you should probably meet in the commons. Guinn or Stark, one or the other. Once you've congregated, you can send someone up to my room to retrieve the chalk. I left a note with my roomate telling her to let one of you take the chalk down with yee.

Sorry about this, it was an unforseen hinderance to our participation. Hope you all have fun; and try not to get arrested~! :D

Edit: Well damn. Did anyone make it?

Meeting Topic Voting~ [10 Nov 2005|11:03pm]

Things discussed previous meeting:
- Meetings to be made more consistant (Every other week good?)
- Upcoming meetings
--- Ninja'ng
--- DDR and Sushi night (I'll look into reserving stark commons if possible)
--- Porn night (We'll have something for everyone)
--- Neko night (CATS the musical, Fruits Basket, and neko ears)
--- Gundam night (Since Ryan has all things Gundam, and Gundam is damn cool)

The tentative date for our next meeting is Friday December 2nd, but I'm not sure on the school break or exam schedual for everyone, thus why I say tentative.

Vote here what you want to do next, and also post if there's something you don't see that you think we ought to get together and do. :3

Rescheduled NINJA IN THE NIGHT [10 Nov 2005|10:53pm]

The rescheduled Ninja'ng is as follows:

Date: Friday, November 18
Time: 8:00pm
Place: TUW Grounds
Meet: Zoe's room - Guinn 608

For those that couldn't make it, we turned our previous date into a meeting to chat about upcoming things that we wanted to do, and chat about general club things. The post above goes into that.

Post a comment to RSVP for the new Ninja Night. Be sure to dress in your best Ninja-attire and bring plenty of chalk. String is good for making circles, as well. :3

Movie Night Reactions Post: Hellsing. [01 Nov 2005|01:52pm]

So aside from Walter saying that he's a real woman and female vampires apparently being able to multi-task quite well, what did everyone think about Zoe's $13 dollar bootlegs?
Highly entertaining, in my opinion.

Been trying to look up what a Royal Warder is for Krystal, but it seems that the makers of Hellsing just made that up, or, it could be acredited to Chinese translations. General confusion aside, Hellsing is quite a fun and happy anime. (There are, however, Yeoman Warders who take care of the Tower of London and there seems to be a Canadian Warding ceremony that I didn't look into, eh.)
Girl meets vampire, vampire shoots her in the chest, girl becomes pet vampire for a multi-million dollar demolitions agency, and much religious violation occurs.
Crack out your thinking caps and discuss! As in, read everyone else comments and if you have something to add/counter, please do. I love reading what you all think about it. ^_^

Advent Children showing, Round Two! [26 Oct 2005|11:31pm]

Hey everyone! I hit a few of you up to tell you this, but here goes my post.

There is going to be a showing of Advent Children Thursday at 6:30 pm at the North Branch Library. Everyone who would like to come is welcome. Yes yes, I know that most of us have already seen this, but I thought that it would be a good opportunity for all of us to meet new people or at least watch the movie again.

Anyhow, here is a map and the address.

Warn me in advance if you are wanting to go or just show up and surprise me.

EDIT:Mitchel has volunteered to give rides to whoever needs one there. Comment if you need/want a ride.

Halloween Movie Night [19 Oct 2005|10:40pm]

Sorry for not posting this sooner. :D;;

Date: 10.31.05
Time: 4:00pm
Place: Chelsie's Room - Stark 4D1
Anime: Hellsing

Be sure to RSVP by posting a comment telling us if you're coming and what you intend to bring. If you're male, be sure to contact Chelsie prior so we can get you checked in; as there aren't any males living in Stark, and it's a tad harder to sneak you in unnoticed. Unless of course you intend to crossdress for Halloween, which you know we'd all so totally go for.
Edit: Actually, how about we all meet in stark commons first, so we can manage checking in the guys and such. Ky and I'll be there early if we can.

Come in costume, if I have my way we'll be totally going out afterwords and making sure that tomorrow the school'll be in an uproar about findings of 'demonic and/or satanic and/or evil!paganistic drawings'. Or we could just like. Trick-or-treat. Since we should be done by 10pm if we start at 4pm.

Also, as there's been a few issues on which foods to bring, how much to bring, ect, we've decided to put up a few guidelines to make everything fair.

Basic guidelines:
- Driks, snacks, food-food, candy*, and any sort of Japanese version to any of these are the basics.
- A good price range, to make things fair, is $5-$10 dollars. Depending on the food, it might be more or less expensive to gather enough to feed all of us, but just go with what you can afford.
- Food must be pre-prepared if needing to be so before eating.
- Uneaten food is to be taken back with you.

* Since it's halloween night, you're all encouraged to bring a thing of candy with your food/drink item so we can all exchange amongst ourselves and be merry.

So, here is the list of who's coming and what they're bringing, as an at-a-glance for those too lazy to skim the comments. Oh, and sign your comments, I don't know who half you people are yet.

[*] Zoe || Sodas (If anyone wants to split the cost on these with me, feel free to ask.)
[*] Krystal || Chocolate Chip Cookies
[*] Angel || Sugar Cookies
[*] Mitchel || Pocky and Jelly things
[*] Ky || Copious ammounts of candy
[*] Chelsie || Pizza (Another food item that can have the cost split between two people. :D)
[*] Ryan || Chips

Mod Post [18 Oct 2005|01:38pm]

Don't know if anyone's seen it, but tonight starting at 5PM there's an anime/game/sci-fi club meeting in the Stark Commons. It'll be held in the same place tomorrow, but for those of us who had time, it wouldn't hurt to pay them a little visit and see if we can be of any use or help.

Also! Let's have a little poll. Which would you prefer:
A) Movie night every week, which would include little time for everyone to plan or ask for the specific night off and lots of money concerning food. (There's no way in hell we'd run out of things to watch, but think about this: Do any of us have a huge or exstensive anime collection? Anime's exspensive, not all of us can buy a new/already released series for us to watch each week.)
B) Movie night every two weeks - which will give us more time to plan ahead and will also be less of a strain on the pockets. Or
C) Movie night held twice a month, on specific days set a month or two ahead of time, where everyone clearly writes out what they're going to bring and/or chip in, plenty of time to ask for the night off, as well as allowing the club to do some side work as well. Meaning, official movie nights will held by the club, and if any member would like to host their own that's not on the schdeule, they can (this could also work for Choice B - we need some discussion on this).

I know some of you are irked because of the movie night hiatus, but we need feedback from all of you. So please, comment.

My personal vote is for C. For one, I don't exactly have enough money to supply food for five odd some people every single week. That money is better off going towards art supplies. Also, school work may get in the way or I have work that night. Choice C allows me extra time to know when I should get my work done, what nights I should ask off for, and enough time to amass some good snacks for everyone.
Any side movie nights hosted by other members would be a sort of treat for me. ;D

ETA: Results

So far we have six votes, all for C (as I know B and C are very similar, but there's some differences. ;D). Seems like most are in agreement for not having Movie Night every week. Very good. A post will be made later for voting on what days/nights we should host them and who wishes to volunteer their room for it.

Reaction Post: Advent Children [06 Oct 2005|08:55pm]

So.. what did everyone think? I know most of your didn't really know a lot about the game in the first place, but do some research.

Animation? Rendering? Characters? Character interaction? What where the prevalent themes in the film? How did you feel about them?

Mod Announcement:

Alright! I know Chelsie has offered to host a Movie Night during Halloween (Monday on the 31st), and until then, there will not be another one. We're going to go on a little Hiatus until we can get some things more coherent; so really read the mod posts, as posting access for all members has been taken.
We really, really need to make some things more cohesive, so until then. Please reread the rulles and check over all Mod Posts.

TOMMORROW NIGHT!!! [05 Oct 2005|06:34pm]

[ mood | anxious ]

Tommorrow night I will be hosting movie night. Remember to meet me in the student center in front of Baker's Dozen at 6:30. The titles I have selected are Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Inuyasha the Movie 3: Swords of the Honorable Ruler. Also remember to bring some food. I'll supply the cups and plates. We will most likely be having the movie night in the Guinn commons but if we can't we'll just go back to my room. I hope to you all there!

[ mood | excited ]

Meet me at the Student Center in front of Baker's Dozen where we met for our first meeting at 6:30. I would like to use the TV in the student center or Guinn commons becasue my TV is small. As for what we will watch, I haven't decided that yet. I will be open for suggestions from now to Thursday. I have all of my anime with me so we have a lot to choose from. I'll post my complete list in my journal. I'll provide plates and cups so let me know what food you will bring.

[01 Oct 2005|03:44pm]

Okay! One week ago and last night most of us watched four films by Studio Gibli.
What did you guys think? Which one was your favorite and why, was it the characters? The animation? The plot?
Which film did you think was the most political and give some exmaples, also, take a look at the kinds of cultures depicted in the films. What do you think they're based off of? Which one did you like best?

My own opinions.Collapse )

Movie Night - 9-30-05 || Mod Post [30 Sep 2005|09:03am]

Tonight is the second installment of movie night, as well as our grand opertunity to have a meeting of sorts over a few things that have been brought up.

Next time around there will be a post the night or day after the movie night, in which members can respond and offer to host the next one held. There will also be a reactions post (Ky, you get to start that one) where content of the movie itself and discussion regarding that will be posted. By Wednesday there will be a post confirming where we are to meet, what we will watch, and what everyone's bringing.

As for tonight, we will meet in the Sudent Center at 6:30 in order to conduct a short meeting. Mitchel has offered to host this time around, so afterwords we'll be following him to his place and commence anime. :3

This format will apply after tonight, so if you could, please respond in Angel's post confirming that you are coming and what you are bringing for foodage.

Hope to see you all tonight~

Tomorrow's Movie Night [30 Sep 2005|06:09pm]

Well, since no one else has really answered the post about tomorrow night besides Ky and myself, so I will bluntly ask...

Who is planning to go to movie night tomorrow? Please comment and state what you are going to bring.

It would kind of be nice to know what the turnout will be like. Thanks a bunch!

I Have Come From the Heavens [27 Sep 2005|03:30pm]

[ mood | geeky ]

Hey, I'm Ryan and I am happy to be in this club. I was lonely when I first came here because I left all my friends behind at my last school. I am a huge Gundam fan and if there is anything gundam you want to see I have it. My other favorite series are Yu Yu Hakusho, Read or Die, Cowboy Bebob, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, and Trigun. I can't wait for Halloween so I can once again cosplay without being harassed by the police (don't ask). I can't decide whether to go as Yoko Kurama or Alphonse Elric(Human). I also love gaming. Shooters, fighters and DDR are my favorites along with Legend of Zelda.

Halloween. [27 Sep 2005|01:35pm]

There's been some talk about cosplaying for Halloween and trick-or-treating around the campus/dorms...

Ky would like to hear from all of you on what you think about this idea: Halloween cosplay, candy, movienight?
Suggestions of what the movie/anime should be are welcome, as well as who would like to hold it in their dormroom. (Shall we all indulge in our inner child and watch Nightmare Before Christmas? Be warned, Ky will sing a long- she knows all the words.)
An uncertan schedule might look like this:
Classes (one can cosplay during them if they'd like too) Please tell us when your last class of the day is, so we can set the time we're all supposed to met.
Meeting in the Guinn/Stark commons or the Student Center
Group candy trade

The High Priest will cosplaying as Rodo from D.Gray-man and will also be bringing candy and a trash bag.
